The Global Indigenous Runway is a unique cultural experience presented once a year in Melbourne as part of PAYPAL Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Independent Programme 2024. The Runway celebrates the diverse ancestry of participating designers and the profound influence of heritage on their unique fashion styles. The runway features designers from various cultural backgrounds, showcasing rich histories and traditions through bold graphics, intricate textiles, and accessories. This year, Global Indigenous Runway is proud to feature designers and models from four ASEAN members states Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Laos, celebrating the connections between First Nations’ Culture and Peoples from Australia and the ASEAN region.

Global Indigenous Co are excited to announce a groundbreaking runway event titled “Global Indigenous Runway – Ancestral Bloodlines.” This event aims to celebrate the diverse ancestry of participating designers and the profound influence of heritage on their unique fashion styles. The runway will feature designers from various cultural backgrounds, showcasing rich histories and traditions through bold graphics, intricate textiles, and accessories. Each piece in the runway collection will reflect the designer’s deep connection to their lineage, conveying powerful stories passed down through generations. The vibrant and striking color palettes employed will symbolize the strength and resilience of First Nations peoples and other global cultures and communities. The event is a tribute to the legacies of forebears, honoring the powerful stories that have shaped the lives and worldviews of the designers. The goal is to inspire others to connect with their ancestral bloodlines, drawing on rich histories and traditions to create truly unique and inspiring fashion pieces.
